You always know what something costs before it happens. We get the price, put it in writing, and it does not change unless the job does and you agree it. Nothing is carried out until you have approved it.
Three stages, and you can stop at any of them
STAGE ONE
The assessment
Free
We come out, look at the whole house and write you the Staying Home Plan, with a call afterwards to talk it through. It costs you nothing, and it commits you to nothing.
STAGE TWO
The work
Quoted per job
Every job in the plan comes with its own written price, so you can pick the ones you want in the order you want. Nothing is carried out until it has been approved.
STAGE THREE
Membership, if you want it
Monthly
Entirely optional, month to month, and you can cancel at any time. See membership for what is in each tier.
What we promise about money
A written price before any work
Nothing starts on a handshake or a verbal figure.
No charge for turning up
The assessment is free, and so are quotes for individual jobs. You only pay for work you have approved.
No cold calling, ever
We will never knock on your parent's door uninvited or ring them out of the blue to sell them something.
One invoice, itemised
Even when four different trades have been involved, you get one bill from us with the lines set out.
Say no at any point
Having the plan does not commit you to the work. Having the work done does not commit you to membership.
The Disabled Facilities Grant
This is a grant from the council towards adaptations that help a disabled person live at home, such as a level access shower, a stairlift or a ramp.
It is means tested, and it depends on an assessment of what the person needs. Councils run their own process, and the outcome is theirs to decide.
We can help you understand whether it is worth applying, and help with the application itself.
What only the council can decide
- Whether you will be eligible. That is for the council to assess.
- How much you might get. It depends on the assessment and your circumstances.
- How long it will take. Timescales are set by the council, not by us.
Anyone who promises you those things before an assessment should be treated carefully. Your council's housing team is the right first stop, and we are happy to help you make the call.
Other help worth asking about
Depending on circumstances there may be other routes: council handyperson schemes, charitable funds, or equipment provided after an occupational therapy assessment.
We are not benefits advisers, so we will not guess. We will tell you who to ask and, if it helps, sit with you while you ring them.
